The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Forest Department woke up from its deep slumber after a gap of eight months to clear the uprooted tree trunk from the footpath on Robertson Road in Pulakeshinagar ward.
“I am very happy to see the footpath free from all hurdles including the abandoned uprooted tree trunk that has been lying here for more than eight months,’’ said Habiba Subhan, a social worker.
News Trail published a story on Tuesday narrating how nearby residents and pedestrians have been struggling due to the apathy and negligence of the BBMP officials’ negligence in clearing the uprooted tree trunk.
“I want to thank the BBMP authorities for clearing the uprooted tree trunk that has been lying on the footpath for quite a long time. Now, we can take out our vehicles from home. Earlier, it was very difficult as the uprooted tree trunk was blocking our gate,’’ said Liyakath Ali Khan, a resident.
Locals want the BBMP ward engineer to restore the broken footpath to avoid children getting injured. “We appeal to the BBMP authorities to restore the footpath without further delay for the benefit of children and senior citizens who could get injured should they trip on it,’’ said a resident.
