Six arrested for kidnapping civil engineer; case cracked in 3 hours

Bengaluru: In a speedy investigation, the Yelahanka police have arrested a gang of six accused for kidnapping a civil engineer. The victim was in a partnership with one of the accused for supplying certain raw material to the building contractors.
The victim was supposed to give money to the accused, but had defaulted and provided trivial reasons for the delay. The police have identified the victim as Manas, a native of Odisha. The police have arrested the six kidnappers including Nanda, Sunil and others.
According to the police, Nanda, the main accused, came in contact with the victim in February, last year. They started undertaking the construction of buildings at a few locations in the city. There was a difference of opinion over a project, between the victim and the accused.
Nanda demanded that the victim had to give him Rs 30 lakh. When he refused, the gang hatched a plot to kidnap him.
“On Wednesday morning, the gang kidnapped him near Raithara Santhe at Yelahanka in a car and were heading towards Kolar. A woman who was with the victim immediately reported the matter to the police. The police managed to arrest the accused within three hours through the mobile network of the victim,” said a police officer.
The Yelahanka police have registered a case and are investigating.
