Jesus statue demolished in Kolar

The Mulbagal taluk administration in Kolar allegedly demolished a Jesus statue in Gokunte village on Tuesday amidst opposition from the Christian community.

The tahsildar reportedly gave the nod for the demolition claiming that the statue was built on government land which was reserved as an animal pasture. The tahsildar also claimed that she acted as per the orders of the Karnataka high court.

However, Christian leaders from the region allege that the statue was illegally demolished while the case was still pending in court. They asserted that the demolition order was never shown to them.
