e-shram cards for newspaper vendors distributed, 500 get it in one day

The state government has formulated several schemes for the welfare of newspaper distributors, said Excise Minister K. Gopalaiah.

Speaking after distributing e-shram cards among newspaper hawkers in Mahalakshmi Layout here, the minister said the distributors can take advantage of many schemes launched by the government including social security programmes.

Apart from labour cards, several benefits are being implemented for their welfare, he said. Newspapers Hawkers State President Shambhulinga said over 500 newspaper distributors have collected e-shram cards on a single day at a function organised by Karnataka Labour Department and Karnataka State Newspaper Distributors’ Federation.

Every vendor working in the city must collect the card, he said. Former deputy mayor Hemalatha K. Gopalaiah, Karnataka State Working Journalists Association President Shivanand Tagadur and Labour Commissioner Akram Pasha were present.
