Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday conducted simultaneous searches in various offices of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) across the city following complaints of irregularities and corruption.

It is claimed that ACB officials registered a suo motu case and a 200-member team, headed by Deputy Superintendent of police Yathish Chandra G.H., carried out the raids.

Searches were conducted in around 27 offices including Head Office, Town Planning, Zonal Offices, Joint Commissioner’s office, Revenue Offices, Advertisement section, TDR section, Health, Road Infrastructure and Storm Water Drain offices located in 11 places across the city

BBMP officials and the staff were questioned by the ACB officials at all locations. It is said that officials have taken many documents of various projects.

Most of these senior officials and staff have allegedly misused power, favoured close friends and relatives for illegal gratification and were involved in corruption that caused huge losses to the government. There were many oral and written complaints by the public regarding the irregularities.

“We are seizing documents from all the departments as part of the probe,” said an ACB official who did not divulge details as the search operation may be continued. Recently, the ACB had conducted a similar search operation against Mayanna M., first division assistant (FDA) in the Major Roads and Infrastructure Department of BBMP.
