Mercury rising in city, may witness light showers tomorrow: IMD

Summer seems to have begun in Bengaluru with a bang, with the mercury rising above normal levels. According to the Meteorological Department, the city has been recording a maximum temperature of above 30 degrees Celsius for the past few days.

On March 18, it reached 35 degree Celsius, the highest in recent days and also t wo d e g r e e s a b o ve normal.

However, weathermen have forecast that some relief may be in sight. The city may soon witness light rainfall this Sunday.

India Meteorological Department scientist Sadananda Adiga told News Trail, “On Friday, March 18 the city’s temperature was 35 degree Celsius which is 2 degree Celsius more than normal and this has continued for the fourth day. However, on Saturday it will be cloudy and on Sunday we can witness light rainfall.”

Meanwhile the National Disaster Management Authority had recently conducted a meeting and suggested precautionary measures to be taken during the summer. In districts where the temperature is high, people have been advised to avoid stepping outdoors during afternoons. If necessary, they must use an umbrella. Always carry a water bottle to avoid dehydration.
