The concrete wall of a lay-by on the Electronic City flyover has not been fixed, six months after it got damaged, posing a danger to motorists.

For a couple of months, commuters of the Electronic City elevated tollway have been complaining to the Bangalore Elevated Tollway Private Limited and the Electronic City Traffic police about the damaged sidewall, but no action has been taken.

“It was damaged after an accident that took place almost six months ago,” said Sadiq, a techie and a daily commuter on the Electronic City flyover. “A metal barricade was temporarily placed after removing the damaged sidewall,” he added. But to this day, the gap poses great danger to vehicles, especially two wheelers, he said.

When contacted the jurisdictional traffic police, the officials said they have been requesting the BETPL officials to fix the sidewall. It was reported that BETPL has been waiting for holidays to begin the repair work.

The National Highways Authority of India officials were not available for their comments.

The local commuters argued that there is no need to wait for the long holidays as the repair works, as it can be carried out within 48 hours if it is taken up on a priority.

Last year on September 15, a couple who had stopped their two-wheeler on the lay-by, were hit by a speeding sedan and they got thrown off from the flyover to the service road below.
