Bengaluru: The police have arrested six people in connection with the brutal killing of Bharath, a 20-year-old resident of Kengeri MTS colony.

The police found that the murder was a case of revenge killing. The victim and the accused had an argument over road rage, while they had gone to see the Karaga celebration at Kengeri on April 24. They all were under the influence of alcohol.

Police said that two of the accused had enmity with the victim and his friend, and they had seized this opportunity to kill them.

The fight started after a scooter touched Bharath’s bike. He told the rider to drive properly. This led to an argument between the two.

Bharath’s friend Sharath tried to intervene and stop the fight. The enraged accused later called his friends and assaulted Bharath and dumped his body near the railway tracks.

They wanted to make it appear as a case of suicide, but had to flee because some railway police personnel had come there to probe a suicide case.

“Sharath had gone to jail for killing Gowrish, who was the close friend of the accused number one in Bharath’s murder. The victim had also posted a derogatory WhatsApp status about another friend of the same accused. Taking advantage of the road rage case, all the six accused attacked and murdered Bharath, while Sharath managed to escape,” a police officer who is a part of the investogative team, said.

Further investigations are underway.
