Singer Ajay Warrier falls into open drain

Bengaluru: Renowned singer Ajay Warrier suffered a deep cut on his leg after he fell into an open drain on Sunday evening.

This was disclosed by the singer on his social media page. It also brought to the fore the shoddy works by the Bengaluru civic authorities.

In his post, Warrier stated that he had left his home for the railway station from where he had to catch a train to Kerala. He wanted to surprise his daughter on her birthday.

The city received heavy rain on Sunday leading to water-logging in some places. Ajay reportedly could not get a cab and hence decided to walk to the nearby metro station. He avoided a stretch of the road due to waterlogging and stepped onto a footpath. After a few steps, he found himself inside the drain with water up to his chest. Warrier said his suitcase saved him from being washed away and wondered what would have happened had there been a child in his place. He called out the authorities for covering the hole. “This is an open letter to BBMP authorities. Please provide us safe roads and footpaths,” he wrote. He also posted a photograph of his injured leg.
