Why are there no potholes in Electronics City?

Industrialist Kiram Mazumdar-Shaw took a jibe at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) through a tweet on Saturday. Along with the link to an article that elaborated on why the roads of Electronics City have ‘no potholes’, she tweeted that it was because the BBMP was not involved.
The Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ECITA) is the body responsible for the construction and maintenance of roads in the area. It has reportedly set higher standards for the quality of work carried out while laying roads.
The tweet drew reactions from netizens, most of whom agreed with her. However, some citizens were quick to counter Shaw’s claim.
A user, Vivek Kalkur, tweeted a video of a road in bad shape and said that the condition of roads in Phase 2 of the Electronics City township was very bad.
“Look at the pathetic condition of the service road with no footpath on the way to your biocon office at Semicon park, E-city phase 2 (sic),” he said.
Some Twitter users felt that their suburbs would never get adequate attention from the BBMP. They added that their zone could improve only with its own municipal corporation. “Please push for #splitbbmp. Need to trifurcate bbmp,” tweeted Ram Dayal.
Another user tagged Narendra Modi and the PMO and asked him to ‘save’ Bangalore from the BBMP. Gunashekhar, a Twitter user, tweeted, “Where there is govt hand there is atrocious quality, eventually ppl stop asking.
Someday we wud start making our own water, power & sanitation Yet our taxes wud hv doubled to still keep alive our babus & politicians (sic),” and tagged the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister of Karnataka.

Recovering charges for repair
R Sudhakara stressed the need for more funds and suggested that the BBMP should collect ‘repairing charges’ from the BWSSB, BESCOM and Telecom Service Providers for restoring the roads dug up by them.
Hosamani Raju added some sarcasm to the thread by tweeting, “This is not acceptable. We BBMP will soon send contractors to dig up all good roads in electronic city & ensure equality among all roads under national scheme of “One Road One Nation” in accordance with “International Standards of UP” with budget of just 140% of estimate (sic)”.
