Hennur police arrested two women who were allegedly involved in the recent kidnapping of an 11-year old boy from Horamavu in Bengaluru. The accused were identified as Mangita and Durga, both hailing from Bihar.
Based on the information procured from the accused, the police are now searching for the fourth accused, who is currently at large. The boy, son of a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus driver, was kidnapped while he was playing outside his house in Horamavu on June 7.
However, in a swift late-night operation, the Hennur police rescued him from a farmhouse near Jigani on the city outskirts by daybreak. The police also arrested the prime accused, Gaurav Singh, who is from Nepal. After interrogating him they were able to nab both the women.
During further investigation the police found that Mangita was working as a domestic help for one of the neighbouring families where the boy lived. She became friendly with the boy and introduced him to Durga. Durga told police that Mangita had offered to give her Rs 10 lakh if she helped her in kidnapping the boy.
“Durga took the boy to the farmhouse in an auto-rickshaw,” a police officer said. “From there, the accused Gaurav Singh made a call to the boy’s father and demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom,” police added. A complaint was filed regarding the incident by the boy’s father and the police traced the accused by tracking the location of the ransom caller.
