Doctors have advised citizens to take precautions and be vigilant as confirmed dengue cases have come to light in Bengaluru and in other parts of the state. They added that people should get rid of stagnant water, use mosquito repellents and creams, even during the day as the dengue virus mosquitoes, Aedes Aegypti can bite them when the sun is up.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Special Commissioner for Health and Information Technology disclosed that there were 3,954 potential breeding spots for dengue in the city and there were 23 confirmed cases mainly in Dasarahalli. Dr Faiyaz Maniyar said that the disease could be prevented with simple measures.
“Empty the pots and vessels with stagnant water in them. Eliminate breeding grounds,” he said. “Use mosquito repellents and the like. If you have fever and headache, immediately get tested and treated in case of a positive result,” he said. “Wherever there is stagnant water and heat, dengue mosquitoes find a fertile breeding ground,” he said.
