6 more trains to operate from Visvesvaraya terminal

Six more trains will operate from the M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal in Byappanahalli, which was launched in early June. These trains were earlier stopping at Yesvantpur and Cantonment railway stations.

The transition will start from July 16 and all six trains will start plying from their new terminal from July 18, an official South Western Railways statement said. Five of the six trains will ply weekly, while the remaining one operates twice a week.

The first these trains to start operating from the terminal on July 16 will be from Hatia to Bengaluru, which runs from the state capital to Ranchi. The return journey on the train will be on July 19. Another train with the same destinations will start functioning from the new station on July 19 and will run twice a week. Its return journey would be on July 21.

Another weekly train would ply from Bhubaneshwar to Bengaluru and would start from July 17. The return journey would be the next day. Only July 19, yet another weekly train (Howrah to Bengaluru) will transition to the new station. The return journey would be on July 21.

Another train will start weekly operations from Byappanahalli to Tatanagar (Jamshedpur, Jharkhand) on July 15 and the return journey will be on July 18. The last train to start operations from the new station will do so on July 18 and will run from Muzaffarpur (Bihar) to Bengaluru. The train would leave for the return trip on July 21.

The terminal was launched on June 6 and is centrally air-conditioned. The railway station was supposed to be launched much earlier, but the official inauguration was put off many times and Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally did the honours during his Bengaluru visit prior to International Yoga Day on June 21.

Three trains namely Ernakulam Tri-Weekly Express, Kochuveli Bi-Weekly Humsafar Express and the Patna Weekly Humsafar Express already use this terminal.
