Residents of an apartment in Hulimavu were left panic-stricken on Friday morning when they found one of the parked cars in the basement badly mangled with its front bumper cover ripped out. According to sources, the scratches and dents on the vehicle made by sharp nails and bite marks indicated that it was the doing of a ferocious animal.

The residents alerted the Hoysala police who soon rushed to the spot and inspected the premises for any clue on the animal before reporting the matter to the forest department. Meanwhile, the worried residents chose to stay indoors and even restrained their wards from going to school.

The forest department officials noticed bite marks on the vehicle and suspected that a dog might be behind it. The CCTV footage was scanned and it was found that a pet dog belonging to one of the residents was the culprit.

The dog owner had gone out of station leaving the dog behind. Unable to bear the hunger, the dog had damaged the car last night. Officials from the forest department fed the dog and checked its health condition. For the residents, it was a big relief.
