At Sai Layout, rains wreak havoc again

NT Correspondent

Two months ago, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had visited Sai Layout in Horamavu, after it got entirely flooded due to heavy rains, and had promised the local residents to work towards ending their recurring misery. However, very little has been done on the ground since then and the same layout once again went underwater on Monday after heavy overnight rains. Residents are frustrated and tired with water entering their houses and many have even chosen to vacate their homes. Most of the houses on the ground floor of Sai Barangay on the 2nd cross are now vacant. The residents who have chosen to stay are angry against the government and the municipal authorities for being negligent and doing nothing to address the root cause of flooding that this Layout experiences whenever there is a heavy downpour. Since there is no proper drainage in the vicinity, the roads get inundated, disrupting the traffic movement. Many other areas across the city also witnessed flooding after Monday’s wet spell.

A bike rider sustained severe head injuries after he failed to notice a pothole in the waterlogged MS Palya junction and fell off his bike. The accident happened when the biker was returning home after work. The pothole was formed because a dug-up portion of the road was not properly covered. The injured bike rider is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
