Logistics firm drivers pilfer mobiles, laptops en route

A logistics company has filed a police complaint against its two drivers for stealing high-end mobile phones and laptops, estimated to be around Rs 6 lakh. The accused used to pilfer these electronic gadgets while transporting consignments from one warehouse to another of an e-commerce giant. The incident came to light after the e-commerce company found a mismatch in the list of items that were delivered to the warehouse.

They brought it to the notice of their transporter RyBlue Logistsics, based in Peenya. The operations manager of RyBlue, R. Praveen, filed a police complaint. Police said there have been similar cases in and around Bengaluru of drivers stealing items of the same e-commerce company. All these drivers were recently appointed and were introduced to the logistics company by the same person, they added. Praveen told NT that two drivers, identified as Shashi and Praveen, have escaped with valuables worth over Rs 6 lakh. Shashi hails from Haveri and Praveen is from Chamarajanagar, he added. “The stolen electronic gadgets belonged to an ecommerce company which has warehouses in multiple locations in the city. The two drivers committed theft while transporting items from the e-comme r c e c omp any ’ s warehouse in Attibele to their other warehouse in Hosakote. The drivers have stolen the items for four days in the first and second week of October. The incident came to light after the e-commerce company brought the matter to our notice,” Praveen said. He further added that of the two drivers Shashi has surrendered before the police and the search for the other driver is still on.

“Three more drivers are allegedly involved in similar offences. Another complaint has been registered with the Bagalur police. Another lorry which was hijacked near Narasapura on Kolar Road has been traced by the police. All these drivers are referred by a person identified as Sridhar,” the supervisor added. The police are yet to ascertain the role of Sridhar behind the series of thefts.

Driver missing In another incident in Whitefield, a 25-year-old driver identified as V. Raju, who was working for another logistics company near Tin Factory, abandoned the luggage vehicle in the parking lot of the ecommerce company on Magadi Road and gone missing. The driver was assigned to deliver goods to the said e-commerce company. When he did not responding to the calls by the logistics company, they carried out a search and found that the vehicle was abandoned in the parking area
