The BBMP is planning on taking up a micro-surfacing procedure on the Shivananda Circle Steel Flyover if the need arises. Speaking to News Trail, BBMP’s Chief Engineer (Project Central) M Lokesh said that the asphalt would undergo compaction in a few days as vehicles move on it. “This may reduce the undulation gradually, although we cannot guarantee zero undulation,” he said.

The steel flyover at Shivananda Circle has been flagged for poor quality ever since it was opened on a trial basis last week. The flyover is open for vehicles moving from Seshadripuram to Race Course Road.

On Wednesday, workers were seen cutting the median of the newly-built flyover near the landing towards Seshadripuram. The chief engineer said that he was not aware of the exact reason. “It may be for some local modifications like erection of a gantry sign board,” he said.

He clarified that the procedures would not incur any additional cost. “As there are no issues with quality, there is no question of repair or additional cost. There may have been some mistake in workmanship, which will be rectified,” he added.

The steel flyover will be ready for vehicular movement on both sides in a week to ten days, according to the official
