Yellow alert for B’luru today; brace up for more rain

The State government on Friday released a compensation of Rs 124 crore for rain damage sustained in 13 districts of Karnataka even as torrential downpour led to waterlogging in parts of Bengaluru.

Localities like Indira Nagar were especially badly hit. India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert to both Bengaluru Urban and Rural for Saturday, apart from 18 other districts. They added that rains are likely to continue in the state capital up until next Wednesday.

Moreover, the city recorded 66 mm of rain overnight in the wee hours of Friday, the IMD added.Citizens from around the city complained about flooding of streets. The most common complaints came from Indira Nagar, the ring road flyover near Manyata Tech Park and even the road leading up to the airport. A cyclonic circulation is an atmospheric motion in the same direction as the Earth’s rotation, which is counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere. It pulls in warm, moist air and causes rainfall.
