Bengaluru: More than 150 citizens organised a ‘Walk for Freedom’ to raise awareness about human trafficking, on Monday morning. At the start of the walk, the citizens took a pledge to help end human trafficking.

The walk was also joined by Alias M Nagaraju Yadav, Legislator from Karnataka Legislative Council, Rev Dexter S Maben from St. Andrew’s Church and Philip Devaraj, Project Manager at Oasis. The people started their walk from St Andrew’s Church and ended the march at the same place.

“This walk is important to create awareness among people so that they can safeguard other people and themselves. The COVID pandemic made several communities vulnerable to human trafficking, and we saw an increase in cases. Creating an awareness walk will help more people know about it,” said Christine Caine, founder of A21.

This was the second edition of the walk in Bengaluru and it was joined by college students, corporate workers, and civic society members.

Organizations that took part in the walk were non-profit organizations such as Oasis, Mahima Foundation, Little More Love and Rotaract Club of GEMS B-School
