Bengaluru: Two days after losing his daughter in a tragic accident near Yelahanka, the father of the deceased has registered a complaint against the officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) alleging negligence and not completing the works on the metal crash barrier near the bypass signal here.

Sana Sahiba, 18, died on the spot while her 21-yearold friend, Zeeshan, lost his hand in an accident on Tuesday. Zeeshan allegedly was overspeeding on his bike with Sana riding the pillion after which he reportedly lost balance and crashed into the median.

The traffic police said that the impact was so powerful that both of them were thrown off their bike and Sana’s helmet was unstrapped due to which she suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot. It was also revealed that the NHAI had not completed the work on the metal beam crash barrier on the road where the accident took place.

Instead of a double-faced barrier, the officials had fixed only a single-sided metal thriebeam barrier which allegedly sliced his hand after he fell onto it. In a complaint filed with the Yelahanka Traffic Police, Sana’s father, Mohammed Iqbal, accused Zeeshan of rash driving, which caused the death of his daughter.

dditionally, he has also accused the NHAI officials, including managers, engineers, and contractors involved in the construction of the median, of negligence in completing their work. Speaking to News Trail, the Yelahanka Traffic Police said that they have taken up a case based on the complaint received from the deceased girl’s father.

However, the NHAI officials were unavailable to comment on the issue. Sana was pursuing a second year of pre-university at a private college in the city, while Zeeshan was working at his father’s shop. As it was Zeeshan’s birthday, he had borrowed the bike from one of his friends and took Sana on a ride towards the Airport
