Bengaluru: While conducting an inspection in the Yelahanka zone on Friday, BBMP Cheif Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath noticed that tree branches that were supposed to be cut were not removed by the BBMP forest department officials.

This gave rise to speculation that Yelahanka Deputy Range Forest Officer (DRFO) R Krishna will be sent to another zone, as he didn't take action to clear tree branches that are potentially dangerous.

“The DRFO has not been suspended. He came from another department just over a month ago. He's not able to understand the working style in BBMP, which is different from that in the forest department. He should be available day and night to attend to fallen branches and other rain-related complaints. As he's not able to handle the role effectively, we will relieve him and another officer will take the place,” said Tushar Giri Nath.

However, when News Trail contacted the forest department regarding the issue, an official informed that the DRFO was a victim of a misunderstanding.

“On Friday morning, R Krishna had met with an accident. He slipped from his bike and hence was not able to come on spot during BBMP chief inspection. Due to this a misunderstanding was caused that the officer was not present for his duty. It is still not clear if he will be transferred to another department. It is speculated that he will be sent to another zone,” the official added.
