Bengaluru: Was it the shock of his suspension from service or the alleged torture and humiliation he suffered in the police departmnet which led to the death of a police circle inspector due to a massive heart attack on Thursday?
The CI, HL Nandish, was recently suspended over allegations of dereliction of duty and died at a private hospital in KR Puram here on Thursday. A native of Hunsur in Mysuru, he was recently accused of not taking action against a restobar operating beyond permissible hours during late night hours violating rules.
Nandish had appealed to senior officials to revoke his suspension but failed to get any response and was reportedly depressed. His health deteriorated following which he was admitted to a hospital where he died, sources said.
When Minister MTB Nagaraj visited the hospital, family members alleged negligence on the part of the department for suspending Nandish without any notice. "My husband was not on night-rounds when the pub was operating. Officials did not seek an explanation before suspending him," Nandish's wife said.
