Zomato removes adverse review, Twitter not amused
Bengaluru: Twitter reacted adversely to a move by food delivery company Zomato to remove a critical review by a Bengaluru customer who reportedly suffered food poisoning after having food at a city restaurant with people saying they were shocked.
Disha Sanghvi reportedly contracted food poisoning at a restaurant in Koramangala and used Zomato to leave a review of the restaurant and inform people of the quality of food offered by them. When she uploaded the review on Twitter, she found that she was not the only one who had suffered food poisoning after eating at the restaurant.
Disha also posted pictures of the mail she received from Zomato informing her that her food review had been removed. Zomato stated that their platform was not the right place to report any health code violation.
“We welcome all opinions on a restaurant whether good, bad, or ugly and this variety of feedback is what makes Zomato useful to foodies like you and me. That said, we do have a few restrictions when it comes to content that is permitted on Zomato."
Sanghvi's twitter post gained a lot of attention and many people were shocked that the review had been removed. One of the Twitter users said, “Hello Zomato! This is exactly the kind of review I want to see. If the food is average, it’ll just be one to try and skip. But if the food can affect my health, that’s definitely something to be highlighted. If the restaurant makes some resolution, they can reply to the comment.”
