Bengaluru: A high drama took place in Tumakuru as hundreds of victims of the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam gathered at the venue where the Kannada Rajyotsava event was held in the presence of Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Tuesday.
The job aspirants gathered at the Government Junior College ground demanding to meet the Home Minister as they wanted to appeal to the minister to increase the age limit for recruitment. The youngsters said that they have lost the chance to re-apply for the examination as the recruitment has stopped due to the ongoing investigation into the PSI scam.
In a video clip shared by one of the students at the venue, the policemen, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivas can be seen trying to convince the youngsters to give up their demands.
However, an argument ensued between the group and the policemen during which the DySP allegedly slapped one of the aspirants, who was recording the incident on his mobile phone. Later some of the aspirants were allowed to meet Araga Jnanendra inside the venue.
As they repeated their request, the youngsters fell to the knees of the home minister, alarming him. A clip of the incident went viral after the incident. Dejected, one of the youngsters in the group said that the minister has not replied positively to their demands. “I think our future is in darkness now,” he said.
