Bengaluru: A recent circular issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru South-East, instructing the police personnel to refrain from taking leaves without his approval, has drawn flak from the officers of the respective division.

In the circular, DCP CK Baba has noticed many officers including police inspectors taking frequent leaves without valid reasons which was taking a toll on their efficiency. Considering this, the DCP had ordered that the policemen would get their leaves sanctioned only during the emergency cases such as health issues or death in the family.

The DCP also warned the personnel of severe action if they were found misusing their sanctioned leaves. When the order was issued, the police officers in the division expressed their displeasure with the conditions set by the DCP. The order had initially been directed to the police constables along with the station inspectors.

However, after the issue was brought before the Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, the DCP clarified that the circular is applicable only to the station officers and not to the officers in low ranks.
