Civic workers to press for their demands

Bengaluru: BBMP Civic Workers Union and Karnataka Progressive Civic Workers Union organised a meeting at Ambedkar Bhawan, Bengaluru to discuss the upcoming 'Pourakarmika Samavesh' convention that is scheduled on November 6.
Activist Akkamma said that a convention of civic workers will be held in the city on November 6 for the civic workers including garbage sweepers, vehicle drivers, loaders, cleaning workers, UGD workers should be made permanent and free accommodation should be provided to them.
At the meeting she said, "The government had assured to make all the workers permanent but only 11,133 civil servants are going to be made permanent across the state. We have prepared for the conference with the BBMP Civil Workers Union, Karnataka Progressive Civil Workers Union and under the leadership of AICCTU Union, demanding that all the civic workers should be made permanent."
She also demanded financial assistance for children's education of all sanitation workers, Rs 10 lakh each and monthly pension of Rs 10,000 to all retired workers, Rs 10 lakh compensation and employment for the families of deceased civic workers.
The civic workers distributed pamphlets in KR Puram Market seeking solidarity from street vendors towards building workers' unity. The convention will be held at Ambedkar Bhawan, Vasantnagar.
