US keen on research ties with University of Agricultural Sciences

Bengaluru: US India (UASB) Agricultural Co-operation programme was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Dr KB Umesh, Director of Research at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bengaluru.
Dr Ron Verdonk, Minister – Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at the Embassy of the United States in Delhi indicated that the United States is interested in having good collaborative programmes with the University of Agricultural Science, Bengaluru.
Dr Umesh presented the agricultural scenario in Karnataka in general and apprised the US team about the research/outreach activities of University of Agricultural Sciences in particular. Dr Ron Verdonk and Dr Santhosh Kumar Singh, a Senior Agricultural Specialist of the Embassy of the United States in Delhi, visited finger millet, minor millets and exotic vegetables crop demos and soilless agriculture project units.
Dr Verdonk indicated that the United States would like to have collaboration with the University of Agricultural Sciences in the city regarding genome sequencing, precision climate Smart Adaptive Agricultural Technologies, Drone and Robotics based technologies, big data and predictive analytics and processing and value chain development.
Dr K Narayana Gowda – Director of Extension, Dr NB Prakash – Dean (Agri.) and other officers of Directorate of Resea rch, University of Agricultural Sciences also took part in the programme.
