Bengaluru: Rains retur ned to Bengaluru on Saturday as a low pressure area was formed off the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. India Meteorological Department (IMD) disclosed that the city limits received 2.4 mm of rain on Saturday.

While Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) airport area and Kempwegowda International Airport (KIA) area received 1.7 and 2.2 mm of rain on the same day. IMD scientist A Prasad added that Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru had received yellow alerts for Sunday.

IMD disclosed that Bengaluru had been chilly as of late partly because of its high altitude and cloudy conditions, adding that it would improve in a few days. The weather department declared that the low pressure had been weakening, but there was a chance it could intensify in the coming days.

“Yesterday’s (Friday’s) well marked low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry weakened into a low pressure area and now lies over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and neighbourhood.

The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels. It is very likely to move west - northwest wards across north interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala during November 12 and 13 and emerge into southeast and adjoining East-central Arabian Sea as a low pressure area/ cyclonic circulation on 13th November, 2022,” an official IMD statement said.

IMD also warned of “fairly widespread / widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over south Interior Karnataka” among other regions in peninsular India. They have forecast more rain for south Karnataka for Sunday and Monday.
