Start Sunday off with a laugh

Bengaluru: While you pass by the High Court on Sunday morning and see people sitting on its stairs, the first thought you might have is it's a protest against some unjust law. But no, it is a comedy show in progress.
For the last six months, Kishore of Earthlings comedy has been organizing impromptu gigs in Cubbon Park that allows new comedians to try out their jokes with a dedicated audience every weekend. “It is better than other open mics because people aren’t distracted by food or drinks and are paying full attention to you.
They are usually very fresh because they have just been walking in the park,” says Kishore, who also organises another comedy show near the Central Library and both shows combined showcase about 20-25 comedians every week doing 5 minutes each. He says the Cubbon Park open mic is a great place to start as long as you can wake up early.
“The audience is very supportive and doesn’t heckle the comedian, which is ideal for newcomers. Often people are watching stand up for the first time and come back for our other shows if they like it,” he adds. So if you want to start the week on a light hearted note or want to try your hand at stand-up and tickling people’s funny bones show up to the High Court by 8:30 am and you can have a go.
