‘Roads repaired only for PM, not for commoners’

Bengaluru: The city has caught the attention of the internet due to ‘pothole protest’ yet once again after a man who fell due to a damaged road in Halasuru sat on the spot and refused to move for several hours. In a video that has since gone viral, the cops and people gathered there can be heard arguing.

The cops on the spot said that the protester and his sympathizers had been “troubling the public”, to which angry demonstrators retorted: “It is you who is troubling the public,” referring to the poor roads that the authorities have not maintained according to the protesters.

State Congress took note of the video and tweeted that roads had been repaired for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit and not for commoners. “A biker who fell due to a pothole in Bengaluru’s Halasuru protested for almost half a day by sitting at the spot.

Why doesn’t the government repair the roads even if people are dying, but they are covering them up for Modi’s visit? Do they or don’t they want welfare of the people?” the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) tweeted.
