The five new Kannada films releasing this week are facing competiton from two decades old Kannada films that are re-releasing. This is the strange development in Sandalwood this weekend. Aavartha, Abbara, KullanaHendati, Khasagi Putagalu and Matha are the five new films releasing.
Apart from these two Kannada films from yesteryears; Bhagyavantaru starring Rajkumar and SP Sangliyana Part 2 starring the late Shankar Nag are releasing today. The oldest among these films is the over 40-year-old Bhagyavantaru starring Rajkumar and B Sarojadevi.
The film was first released on March 16, 1977. It has been re-released a few times subsequently. Directed by HR Bhargava, it is a family drama that depicts the waywardness of youngsters who do not conform to the family values of their parents. Shankar Nag starrer SP Sangliyana Part 2 is a 1990 sequel to the 1988 film Sangliyana. It takes forward the 1980s legacy of the anti-corruption and anti-estabishmet cop saga a bit further and with lot more entertainment and drama.
