Comic Con: An array of vibrant creativity

Bangalureans wore many hats and different shoes for India’s biggest pop-culture celebration Comic Con, which was held at KTPO Trade Centre in Whitefield over the weekend. Comic con has held many shows across India, attracting more than 200K fans yearly and a mass digital audience which come up to over 20 million fans and a social reach over 141 milliom.
“This is my first ever Comic Con and it is surprisingly overwhelming for me. I am appearing for the cosplay competition and have self-designed and curated my costume which is an inspiration deprived from extra territorial beings adjoining the humans. It is more science fiction themed and I am enjoying the Comic Con weekend,” said one of the cosplay artists at the show before heading to the stage.
Many artists were seen displaying painting, innovative and creative comics, house appliances, action figures, stationary and costume props. The event brought enthusiastic, anime, toys, TV, movies, gaming lovers, some of the events held at the Comic Con were Special Guest Session by Jonathan Kunz, metaverse gaming, standup comedy by renowned comedian Sapan Verma, superhero line up perfor med by Geekfruit and the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2022, where the winner takes back Rs75,000 as cash prize.
Mohammed Ali Vakil, a Sufi comic said, “I have been exhibiting at Comic Con from the first edition, there is a significant change in the culture, the number of comics and artists has gone down and more and more merchandise is in the picture.” He also added, “I have displayed comics which a r e a b s t r a c t s t a k e n from Islamics stories, as a child, I was fond of reading comics and so I thought this is my true calling and have been at it since then.”
