Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) department is undergoing massive changes especially after traffic specialist MA Saleem took charge as the Special Commissioner. In the latest development, under the direction of the Special Commissioner, the BTP has given an opportunity to traffic violators who were served challans based on the newly-implemented Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), to appeal against the charges.
Saleem has said that the new system has been installed for contactless and automatic enforcement of traffic violations in the city. "However citizens have an option to raise a complaint if they were unjustly served challans. They can either dial the control room or visit the traffic police station," he said.
Citizens can also visit the Traffic Management Centre at Infantry Road, he said. On Thursday, the BTP completed setting up ITMS across 50 key junctions in the city which detect violations including overspeeding, red light violation, stop lane violation, no helmet, triple riding, driving without seatbelts and driving while using mobile phones.
