Rlys holds meet with private goods shed developers

Bengaluru: A meeting to obtain stakeholders' views and feedback for development of goods sheds through private participation was held in the Bengaluru Divisional Office on Friday. Mudit Chandra, Executive Director (Freight Marketing) Railway Board, Rabindra Mishra, and Executive Director (Commercial, Finance and Public Private Participation) Railway Board interacted with the stakeholders.

The meeting was called in the background of Developing Goods-sheds as per Gati-Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) policy introduced in December, 2021 for development of cargo terminals. The selection of the GCT operator will be through an open bidding process. Railway Divisions will decide the common-user facilities and minimum value added infrastructure to be developed.

Operators with at least two years of experience in transportation, logistics or related business can compete in the bidding. The maximum duration of the contract will be 20 years. JK Cements, Puyvast Maritime India, Adani Logistics, Balaji Warehousing, Ultratech Cement, Palmat Engineering, Central Warehousing Corporation, Bangalore Local Lorry Owners’ Association, Karnataka Roller Flourmill Association, ANJ Amezan Solution, DP World, DLI, Jaishakti Transport, RITES were the major stakeholders participated in the meeting.

Shyam Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru, Harsh Khare, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi, and Ganesh, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai were present in the meeting. Senior Officers of Commercial, Operations and Finance department from South Western Railway and Southern Railway were also present
