Correcting the mistakes made by previous generations
'Bigger than Us' is a documentary about young activists from around the world

Bengaluru: To raise awareness and promote discussion on human rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands has partnered with Movies That Matter to screen interesting documentaries around the world.
They are starting the initiative with a screening of Bigger Than Us, a film by Flore Vasseur, that documents the plight of young activists from around the world as they face the ever-changing challenges that range from climate disruption, curtailment of press freedom, social injustice, food insecurity, human rights abuses, and lack of access to education.
It tells the story of the 20-year-old Melati as she travels the world visiting fellow activists—young people who are changing and sometimes saving lives, though not always getting on the news. In Malawi, Lebanon, Brazil, Uganda, and the United States, Melati meets some young people who, at risk to their own lives, are trying to correct the mistakes made by previous generations.
The film which had its World Premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2021 is considered an optimistic film by the director who looks to discover from where these young people draw their strength and what motivates them.
