Film based on SHORT-STORY releases soon

Films based on novels were the mainstay of Kannada films in the 70s and 80s but fell out of favour by the 90s. In a nostalgic move, the State Government even announced an additional subsidy for films based on novels a few years ago.
Though few films are made based on novels these days, it is not in the same numbers as in the 80s. The latest book-to-screen film is Thimmana Mottegalu directed by Rakshith Thirthahalli. Interestingly, he has based the film on one his own stories published a few years ago.
The short story ‘Thimmana Mottegalu’ is part of the short-story collection of Thirthahalli, ‘Kadina Nentaru’. The film is bankrolled by non-resident Kannadiga Adarsh Iyengar. “The film talks about the close connection people living in the Malnad region have with nature. The film talks about conservation, forests and human interaction with nature. The film was shot on location in Shivamogga in one schedule,” Iyengar said.
Director Thirthahalli has directed two other films earlier; Hombanna and Entha Kathe Maaraaya. The latter is being scheduled for release shortly. Thimmana Mottegalu on the other hand has just entered the post production stage. The film has Suchendra Prasad, Keshav Guttahalli, Ashika Somashekar, Vinay Kanive, Pragathi and Sriharsha in the cast.
