Bengaluru: The second edition of India's foremost literary festival, devoted to books and new media on the environment for all age groups, took place on 18 December 2022 at the Bangalore International Centre from 10 am to 6 pm.

The daylong carnival-style event featured discussions with some of the top experts in India's environmental literature and filmmaking, showings of some of the best green documentaries, a special edition of the WWF's Wild Wisdom Quiz, storytelling and workshops on nature writing and cartooning.

The Green Lit Festival had a lot of events in totality, but one particular event took place in the presence of the founder of GLF, Benedict Paramanand. The reason why this festival started was to show the world that there are a lot of books written on the environment and need to reach more readers.

He said, "The idea for this GLF came when we realized that lots of good books are being published in India on the environment, but it's not published and is not reaching enough readers. Thus, we thought we must create a platform or ecosystem to encourage readers to discover authors."

The season was named "Hope Amidst Gloom: Fresh Perspectives on the Climate Crisis." He had an informal session with the event guests, Prof Harini Nagendra, author and faculty at Azim Premji University, Masood Mallick, CEO, Re Sustainability, and Abi T Vanak, Interim Director, Centre for Policy Design, ATREE.

The session highlighted the environmental issues and how each tackles them or spreads news regarding the environment. When Paramanand asked the audience how many of them think humans will disappear in a hundred years, the audience gave a positive response.
