Reforms in Higher Education: TN officials visit state

Bengaluru: Two senior officials from the Tamilnadu government visited Bengaluru to get apprised about the implementation of UUCMS and LMS at higher education and the corresponding progress achieved in the state.
Karthikeyan, Principal Secretary Government of Tamilnadu, and Lakshmi Commissioner, Department of Higher Education, Tamilnadu were on a two-day visit to Karnataka. They met P. Pradeep, Commissioner DCTE, and Professor B. Thimme Gowda, Vice-Chairperson, State Higher Education Council.
The TN officials also appreciated the educational reforms being introduced in the state. The duo visited Hi-tech ITI at Peenya and the Karnataka Examination Authority offices also. The officials of Karnataka apprised them of the fact that about 2.5 lakh contents developed by government lecturers had been uploaded and made available to students on LMS. The Tamilnadu officials also obtained information about digital learning and smart classroom setup.
Besides, they also discussed ways of achieving autonomy, accountability, and transparency in higher education. It is learned that the Tamilnadu officials also discussed revamping of ITI syllabus to suit the current industry needs and increase in the number of students seeking admission to the Polytechnic.
They were also keen to know about the measures taken here in the state with regard to the effective implementation of the NEP
