Police quizzes BMRCL officials in metro pillar collapse case

Bengaluru: Following notices from the city police five officials of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Thursday appeared before the Bengaluru East Division police in connection with the collapse of the under-contruction Metro Pillar on Tuesday.
In the wake of the tragic incident on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru East Division, Bheemashankar S Guled had said that seven persons have been issued a notice to appear for the probe. The police had named 9 people in the FIR including contractors and officials.
The Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) official Prabhakar, Director Chaitanya, Project Manager Vikas Singh, Supervisor Lakshmipathy, NCC Project Manager Mathais, BMRCL Deputy Chief Engineer Venkatesh Shetty, BMRCL Executive Engineer Mahesh Bhandari, Metro Junior Engineer Zafar Siddiqui and the NCC firm, who were in charge of the metro project which was underway near Nagawara.
Sources said five officials appeared before different police stations in the East Division including Govindpura, Banaswadi and KG Halli police station.
