Bengaluru: To counter the Bus Yatra of the Congress party while wooing voters, the ruling BJP has planned a Rath Yatra from all four directions of the state after the Budget session.

The saffron party will select four commanders to lead the Rath Yatra from the north, south, east and west of Karnataka to add to its list of votes in the 2023 Assembly elections. Leaders of the party in charge of the exercise will be Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, former CM BS Yediyurappa, State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel and BJP General Secretary CT Ravi.

Each Yatra aims to cover 50 to 60 Assembly constituencies and will pass through every village in its jurisdiction. On the way, the leaders are expected to meet people and tell them about the achievements of the State and Union governments recently.

One “big” rally is slated to be held in every district headquarter, which the sitting MLA “must attend without fail”. More Modi rallies Party sources told News Trail that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to visit the state as many times as sought by the state leaders in order to help the party regain power by a “big” margin.

The CM wants the PM to address more rallies in South Karnataka to woo voters who are traditional supporters of the Congress and JDS. Apart from Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Smriti Irani and other key leaders who are “good orators” will come to Karnataka and address these rallies.

In the Lingayat-dominated constituencies, Yediyurappa must be taken along with other leaders to woo voters from the community. Similarly, former minister KS Eshwarappa will be asked to concentrate on the Kuruba community votes.
