Bengaluru: In two separate incidents of fire at Chamarajpet and outside the Palace Grounds here on Sunday a warehouse was gutted and three cars caught fire respectively.

There were no reports of any casualties in the two incidents. In the first incident, a fire broke out at a warehouse at Vittal Nagar in the Chamarajpet police station limits. The fire later spread to an adjoining building where two gas cylinders were kept on the balcony.

According to sources, one of the gas cylinders on the balcony exploded due to the fire and damaged the building wall. However, there were no reports of any casualties. Eye witnesses said the family residing in the building had reportedly gone out after locking their house but had left the cylinders on the balcony.

"The fire first started at the warehouse, and then spread to the top floors of the adjacent building where the cylinders were kept. We heard an explosion and rushed to the spot. One of the neighbours immediately alerted the jurisdictional police and the fire services," said a nearby shop owner.  With the help of fire officials and policemen, the fire was doused before it could spread to the adjacent buildings. It took 20 personnel and two fire tenders to control the fire.

The police and fire officials inspected the spot to ascertain the exact cause of the fire at the warehouse. In the second incident, three cars parked outside the Palace Grounds suddenly caught fire. Sources claimed that the vehicles had been parked outside Gate number 4 and 5 of the Bengaluru Palace Grounds.

One of the passers-by noticed the fire and reported it to the police control room. A team of policemen from Sadashivanagar police station and fire officials rushed to the spot and doused the fire. According to the sources, two of three vehicles were completely damaged in the fire. However, it was not clear what caused the fire.
