Congress takes poster route to attack BJP again

Bengaluru: A fresh poster war has broken out between Congress and BJP as workers from the grand old party went around Bengaluru pasting stickers that alleged that the saffron party was taking people of the state for a ride.

The posters said” “Sakappa saaku, kiwi mele hoovu” (Enough of this. No more taking us for a ride). The Kannada expression “kiwi mele hoovu” translates to flowers on the ears, an expression that signifies someone trying to take you for a ride.

Congress MLAs, including Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Assembly Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president DK Shivakumar, Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge and others had showed to the House with flowers tucked behind their ears as Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who also hold the Finance Ministry portfolio, presented the Budget.

The Opposition party leaders had insisted that the Budget and the promises contained in it misled the people of Karnataka since promises made in the previous Budget had also not been fulfilled.

Congress MLAs also claimed that over 90 percent of the promises made in the BJP manifesto had remained on paper. In the past year, Congress had carried out the PayCM campaign, alleging that the buck stopped with Bommai when it came to allegations of 40 per cent commission made by the Karnataka State Contractors Association (KSCA) Kempanna and his compatriots.
