Siddu hits back at BSY for seat remark

Yediyurappa had suggested that Siddaramaiah should contest from Badami and not Kolar

Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Assembly Siddaramaiah on Thursday shot back at former chief minister BS Yediyurappa for questioning the former for changing segments from where to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Yediyurappa had suggested in the Assembly on Wednesday that Siddaramaiah should contest from Badami, where he is the incumbent, rather than Kolar. The LOP replied that the BJP bigwig was no one to decide which segment he should contest from. “It’s not that I won’t win from Badami. I will 100 per cent win from Badami. I’ve worked for the people there for five years and tried to ease their burden.

Therefore, it’s not a matter of betraying people’s trust at all. Poor chap, Yediyurappa, has been disturbed since they removed him from the chief minister’s post. I pray that he will be blessed with long age and health. Should I decide where I should contest from or Yediyurappa? I’ll say where I want to contest from and the Congress party will take a decision on it. What is it to Yediyurappa?”

Siddaramaiah told mediapersons during his tour of Vijayapura district as part of the party’s Praja Dhwani Yatra. Yediyurappa had said that it would be prudent for Siddaramaiah to contest from Badami again. “He had won from Badami and worked there for five years. People of the segment had asked him to contest from there again.

Despite that, he has been looking for constituencies elsewhere. What do we make of that? It means that he is not confident of winning in Badami,” he said. “Ordinary people are now saying he betrayed the trust that the people of the constituency put in him. They say he can win from any of the 224 segments. Then why did he lose from Chamundeshwari?” Yediyurappa asked.
