Cracks resurface on city bridge after BBMP patchwork

Bengaluru: A few months after Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) undertook a patchwork on the Manjunatha flyover cracks have once again surfaced on it. The patchwork was taken up before the opening of the said flyover.

The 271-meter bidirectional flyover has been under use by commuters, say the locals, adding only they knew about the cracks on it. “We can feel the vibration whenever a heavy vehicle passes over it. There has been no proper response from the BBMP officials after multiple attempts to draw their attention to the matter. We will inform commuters not to use the flyover by standing in front of it,” a local said.

The flyover is part of the signal-free corridor project commissioned in 2016 under the Nagarathna project of BBMP. The flyover, however, is the commuters’ favourite as they could use it for the signal-free corridor to get west of Chord Road and Manjunath Nagar.

Earlier, the locals alleged the officials used wooden pieces to fill the gaps on the flyover and put paint over it to hide the patchwork. However, the cracks, after patchwork, on the flyover have once again left the residents venting their spleen on the authorities.
