Man alleges harassment by traffic cop in B’luru

Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based fitness trainer has accused a traffic cop of misbehaving with him for not knowing Kannada. The man took to his social media handles to share his “bitter” experience with a cop over a parking issue. According to Ikram Ansari, the incident took place on Sunday evening in Bengaluru.
In a video he posted, Ansari can be heard arguing with the cop that he could not see any "No Parking" board. The cop, however, asked him to pay the fine for wrongful parking. "Not knowing the language is not an excuse. This is Karnataka, and you should pay a fine even if you don’t know the language," the cop is heard saying.
When the cop asked for his licence, Ansari told him that he is not an eligible person to check his documents, which infuriated the cop. The cop angrily told him to contest it in court but would not let Ansari go. A few passers-by came to the rescue of the motorist.
"I respect Kannada and know the basics of it. The cop physically assaulted me just for asking that there is no ‘No Parking’ sign and shifted the conversation about me not knowing Kannada. He snatched my keys and pushed me out of the car when I tried to get into my vehicle. I even offered to touch his feet and apologised, but to not avail,” Ansari claimed in his social media post.
The traffic cops fined him for misbehaving and parking his car at an intersection, although it was not the case, as claimed by Ansari.
