Bengaluru:

A flyover near Okalipuram, which took almost three years to be constructed, is lying unused despite the completion of work in the city. Sources from the authorities said that the flyover needs to be inaugurated before it is thrown open to the public. However, due to the Model Code of Conduct in place, no minister is available to do the honours. Motorists in Bengaluru travelling from Magadi Road towards Majestic can reach their destination directly by using the flyover.

However keen the citizens might be to use the flyover, the upcoming assembly elections may delay the opening of the flyover. The construction work of 350 metre-long flyover started towards the end of 2019, but got delayed due to construction of the subway of Lulu Mall, shifting of utilities like power line and the Covid-19 pandemic. The flyover will help vehicle users skip four traffic junctions. By using the flyover, motorists can reach Majestic directly via Magadi Road by taking the flyover.

Vehicles can go towards Ram Mandir, Sujata Talkies after taking a left turn from Magadi Road using the service road. Vehicles coming from Ram Mandir can connect to Magadi Road via the flyover. Vehicles can reach Magadi Road by taking the Majestic service road or reach Majestic by taking a U-turn. Motorists who are stuck in the infamous traffic congestion on Okalipuram Main Road, have been asking the authorities to open the flyover to enable smoother traffic flow
