Bengaluru: Making a serious charge against former CM BS Yediyurappa, an activist has filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta Police on April 17, alleging that the latter abused his position as CM to favour real estate agents and illegally denotify government lands valued at Rs 74 crore.

Karnataka AntiGraft and Environmental Forum President, T J Abraham filed the com - plaint, in which he named Yediyurappa and three real estate agents as the accused. The activist alleged misuse of power during the denotification of land for RMV 2nd Stage for which the final notification was issued on 2-08- 1978.

According to Section 48 of the Land Acquisition Act, once the possession of acquired land is taken by the government, such land cannot be denotified, he asserted. “After the acquisition and possession of the land, the 2nd Accused Venketamma, real estate agents K. Umapathi and S.G. Vijayalakshmi hatched a plan to get the BDA/Government land denotified for their business prospects”, said the activist.

The BDA officials several times, refused the request to de-notify the government land for multiple reasons but the former CM allegedly misused his power and ordered the denotification of 15 guntas of land, Abraham claimed. The activist added, “The present-day value of the illegally denotified BDA/Government land is around Rs 27 crore and Rs 46 crore totalling around Rs74 crore.''
