Namma Clinics to resume operations

Bengaluru: As many as 19 nonoperational Namma Clinics will resume operations in the city, out of the 438 clinics that the previous BJP government had inaugurated across the state. Each of the clinics will have a doctor, a staff nurse, a lab technician, and the other helper. However, currently in some clinics, there are no doctors and the staff nurses are forced to take up the treatment works, sources said.
The clinic offers adolescent care, prenatal care, family planning, management of communicable diseases, common and minor injuries, preventive care for NCDs, eye care, ENT, mental health, geriatric care, and laboratory services, besides teleconsultation, and yoga. DR KV Thrilok Chandra, Special Commissioner for Health, BBMP, said the rest of the clinics would start functioning soon in the city.
“We have 224 clinics in the city and 19 more clinics will be resuming their functions. The construction of the rest of the clinics has been delayed and the information of 109 clinics has been updated on the website. We will update the list of remaining clinics soon,” he said. He also added that postgraduates from medical colleges have been appointed for 40 clinics.
