Bengaluru: Sending out a message loud and clear that it is the duty of his government to create a sense of security among people, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, during an interaction with representatives of the Eddelu Karnataka organisation, highlighted the need to address the “fearful” atmosphere experienced by Dalits, the poor, backward classes and minorities in the state.
Taking immediate action after assuming power, the CM instructed the police to decisively act against those responsible for spreading fear and disrupting harmony, mainly through social media platforms. He also emphasised that moral policing will no longer be tolerated within the state.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister stated that the recent elections clearly demonstrate the rejection of the ideology propagated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Referring to the five poll guarantees now being implemented, Siddaramaiah said the estimated annual amount required is Rs 59,000 crore.
Additionally, a financial provision of Rs 41,000 crore is necessary for the remaining months of the current year. These funds will be dedicated to implementing the five guarantees pledged to the electorate, he said. The CM highlighted the government's commitment to reviewing the National Education Policy. In addition, he emphasized the need to repeal several anti-people laws while simultaneously implementing new policies that will benefit marginalised communities.
The delegation that met Siddramaiah comprised more than 30 representatives from various organisations, including KM Ramachandrappa, Noor Sridhar, Vijayamma, Mallige, JS Patil, Yusuf Khanni and Tara Rao from the Karnataka Exploited Communities Maha Union.
