Man from Assam killed for refusing to pay excess fare to autorickshaw driver

Bengaluru: A man from Assam was killed while his brother was severely injured allegedly for refusing to pay excess fare to an autorickshaw driver. Sources from the police told News Trail that the incident took place around 1 am on Monday. The police identified the deceased as Ahmed, 28, and his brother as Ayub, both hailing from Assam. Ayub is currently being treated for his injuries at a hospital in Bengaluru.

According to the police, the brothers took an autorickshaw to reach their residence near Yesvantpur Soap Factory. When they got off, the autorickshaw driver identified as Ashwath, demanded double the fare. When the brothers refused to pay the excess amount, Ashwath lost his cool and began abusing the two men. As the argument turned violent, the auto driver took a sharp weapon and attacked the two men.

During the scuffle, Ahmed died after getting stabbed, while Ayub was left severely injured. Following the incident, Subramanya Nagar police rushed to the spot and collected details about the accused and arrested him. The police have taken up further investigation.
